The smart factory software to manage production, warehouse and maintenance in a single system

Manufacturing operations software

In many plants, different systems coexist, each managing different pieces of the same operational reality: warehouse, production, maintenance, ERP. The result is well known: misaligned data, slow decisions, bottlenecks identified too late.

LOG iN was created to solve this problem.
It is a smart factory software platform for manufacturing that governs warehouse, production, supply and maintenance flows on a single database, with a single operational logic and a single interface.

Four operational areas. One single system of governance.

Why LOG iN is different

Why LOG iN is not a software like the others

01 Born from method, not from IT

LOG iN is born from direct experience in production and logistics departments. First comes the operating model, then the software. This is why it does not digitalize disorder: it corrects it.

02 Modular, but integrated

Each module can work on its own. But when the modules work together, the value grows: data flows without barriers and decisions become coordinated.

03 It adapts to your processes

LOG iN configures itself on the plant’s flows, integrates with the hardware already in use and communicates with the main ERPs, without proprietary constraints or forced migrations.

The limits of traditional systems in operations

In many plants, five or six different systems coexist: ERP, Excel sheets, schedulers, separate tools for maintenance and logistics. On paper, the factory is digitalized. In practice, a complete view of what is happening is missing.

The warehouse does not talk to production

The WMS knows the stock, but does not always know when and where the material will really be needed. Result: uncoordinated picking, delays at the line, avoidable stoppages.

Production does not see maintenance

A machine stoppage changes the plan, but the maintenance data lives elsewhere. The information exists, but does not arrive where it is needed in time.

The ERP knows everything, but late

The ERP is the company's system of record. But for those deciding today on priorities, bottlenecks and resources, an up-to-date operational figure is needed, not an accounting snapshot.

Decisions get made anyway. But at what cost?

Without a unified database, decisions are based on experience, phone calls and manual reconstructions. As complexity grows, every choice weighs more.

The limit is not the amount of software. It is the absence of an architecture designed to circulate operational information where it is needed, when it is needed.

Native integration and continuity of operational flows

Integrating WMS, MES, maintenance and supply with different solutions often means opening a separate project: connectors, middleware, exchange files, continuous maintenance. It is a cost that grows over time.

LOG iN was born with a different logic. The modules are not separate systems connected to each other, but components of the same platform, built on a single central database.

Data is created only once and becomes available to all modules at the same moment. When a material enters the warehouse, the WMS records it. Production sees it. The kanban updates stock levels. No exports, no delays, no duplication.

01 From warehouse to line, without interruptions

Picking aligns with production scheduling and replenishment updates if priorities change.

02 From production to maintenance, with mutual visibility

Production scheduling and the maintenance plan share the same data, reducing operational conflicts.

03 From line consumption to replenishment, with pull logic

Actual consumption generates the signal, the system creates the mission, the material arrives where it is needed.

04 Open to the outside

LOG iN integrates the main ERPs and works with the hardware already present in the plant, without proprietary constraints.

The goal is not to replace the ERP, but to complete it with reliable, real-time operational data.

- TECHNICAL DETAILS -

Compatibility with the main ERPs: SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics

LOG iN does not replace the ERP. It completes it with the operational information that the management system, on its own, does not collect in real time from the plant.

LOG iN on desktop, tablet and mobile devices

Bidirectional integration

The ERP transmits orders, master data and planning data to LOG iN.

LOG iN returns execution data to the ERP: warehouse movements, production progress, consumption, machine states, maintenance interventions. The two systems work in parallel, each within its own perimeter, with a continuous and synchronized data flow.

Integration with the main enterprise ERPs

LOG iN is already integrated with the main enterprise ERPs: SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and legacy AS/400 systems.

The connectors are tested on real installations in medium and large manufacturing contexts. For different ERPs or proprietary systems, the open architecture of the operations software allows the development of specific interfaces with contained project times.

No forced migration

No proprietary constraints. LOG iN fits into the existing IT infrastructure and works with the hardware already present in the plant (barcode, RFID, wireless terminals, sensors) without requiring replacements.

The result for IT

an operations software that integrates without complicating. The result for operations: reliable operational data inside the ERP, not outside.

Concrete results on operations

Factory and production management software is judged on one thing only: the impact it produces on operational KPIs.

Not on features. Not on technology. On the numbers the plant manager checks every day.

LOG iN acts on five measurable areas.

01

Shorter lead times.

The synchronization between warehouse, production and supply reduces waits and throughput times.

02

Fewer stoppages, less waste.

Electronic kanban and scheduled maintenance reduce line stoppages and inefficiencies.

03

Stock under control.

Pull logic and traceability reduce safety stock without increasing the risk of stockouts.

04

Visible processes, reliable KPIs.

Resource saturation, order progress, machine states and stock levels are observable in real time.

05

More solid decisions.

When data is reliable and up to date, management moves from handling emergencies to governing processes.

Results depend on the software, but also on how it is implemented. This is why LOG iN is built with the AlfaProject.net Operational Vision.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about the LOG iN platform

What is the difference between WMS, MES and MOM in manufacturing?

The difference between WMS, MES and MOM in manufacturing is one of the most frequent questions for those evaluating an operations platform, and also one of the most confusing, because the boundaries between these systems have progressively overlapped.

A WMS (Warehouse Management System) manages warehouse operations: goods receiving, storage, picking, production line replenishment and shipping. Its perimeter is the plant’s internal logistics.

A MES (Manufacturing Execution System) manages production execution: it collects data from the field (order progress, machine states, cycle times, scrap), monitors performance in real time and supports operational scheduling.

MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management) is an evolution of the MES defined by the ISA-95 standard. It extends the perimeter to all plant operations: production, quality, maintenance and stock management.

LOG iN overcomes this fragmentation at the root. The WMS module and the MOM module are part of the same platform, share the same database and the same operational logic. There is no integration to build, because there is no separation to bridge.

What is a WMS system and what is it for in manufacturing?

A WMS (Warehouse Management System) is the software that governs all the physical operations of the warehouse: from the moment a material enters the plant until it leaves, as a finished product or as a component delivered to the line.

In a manufacturing context, the role of the WMS is more complex than in distribution logistics. The factory WMS must coordinate the flow of materials with the pace of production: feeding the lines at the right times, managing returns from production, tracking lots and components along the entire internal path.

The main functions include: receiving and inbound control management; dynamic allocation of storage spaces; guided picking with route optimization; production line replenishment; shipping management; continuous inventory and reconciliation with the ERP.

LOG iN WMS is designed specifically for manufacturing. It operates paperless with mobile devices, integrates natively with the main ERPs and shares data in real time with production, electronic kanban and maintenance.

What is electronic kanban and how does it work?

Kanban is a material management system based on pull logic: downstream consumption authorizes upstream replenishment. In the traditional version it works with physical cards that travel between the line and the warehouse.

The system works, but has evident limits: cards get lost, the signal travels with delay, the stock level is visible only to those physically present, there is no traceability of the complete cycle.

Electronic kanban (eKanban) digitalizes the process. LOG iN eKanban monitors line-side consumption in real time. When a component reaches the reorder point, the system automatically generates a refill signal to the warehouse. The whole cycle, from consumption to delivery, is tracked, measurable and visible.

The advantages over physical kanban: elimination of line stoppages due to missing material, stock optimization based on real consumption data, shared visibility between logistics and production.

What is the difference between predictive and preventive maintenance?

Preventive maintenance intervenes at scheduled intervals, regardless of the actual condition of the asset. It is based on a calendar or on usage counters. The advantage is predictability; the limit is that you intervene even when it is not needed, or not enough when actual wear is faster than expected.

Predictive maintenance uses data collected in real time (vibrations, temperatures, absorptions) to estimate when a component will require intervention. It is based on the actual condition of the asset: you intervene only when truly needed, but it requires sensors, historical data and reliable models.

In manufacturing practice the two strategies coexist. Preventive remains the basis for most assets; predictive is applied to critical plants, where an unexpected stoppage has a high impact.

LOG iN Maintenance manages both modes. The key point is that maintenance does not live in a separate system: in LOG iN the maintenance plan is visible to production scheduling. If an intervention is planned on the machine, production knows it before assigning an order, not after.

How does the integration between LOG iN and the company ERP work?

LOG iN does not replace the ERP and does not require changes to its structure. The integration is bidirectional and operates on two levels.

The ERP transmits planning data to LOG iN: production orders, purchase orders, material master data, bills of materials. LOG iN returns execution data to the ERP: receiving confirmations, warehouse movements, production progress, consumption, production declarations, maintenance interventions.

The two systems work in parallel: the ERP remains the system of governance for accounting, planning and orders; LOG iN governs the plant.

LOG iN has connectors already tested for the main enterprise ERPs: SAP (R/3, S/4HANA), Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and legacy AS/400 systems. For proprietary ERPs, the open architecture allows the development of specific connectors, managed by the AlfaProject.net team without structural interventions on the existing IT.

What are the implementation times for LOG iN?

Times depend on the scope of the project: how many modules, how many plants, how complex the existing processes are.

As a reference, implementing a single module (e.g. LOG iN WMS on one plant) typically takes between 3 and 6 months, from initial analysis to go-live: flow analysis, configuration, testing, training and assisted start-up.

For larger projects the plan is gradual: you start from the module with the most immediate value and extend progressively. Each phase has a defined perimeter, measurable objectives and an autonomous go-live.

Times also depend on the quality of the analysis that precedes them. When the AlfaProject.net Operational Vision has already mapped the flows and built the roadmap, configuration is faster and rework risks are reduced.

How is the ROI of the LOG iN platform measured?

The return on investment is measured on concrete operational indicators. The main KPIs on which LOG iN generates measurable impact are:

Lead time reduction: with synchronized flows and real-time information, the waits between one step and another shorten.

Reduction of unplanned stoppages: both from missing material (eKanban and WMS) and from preventable failures (Maintenance). Every hour of downtime has a calculable direct cost.

Stock optimization: pull logic allows reducing safety stock without increasing the risk of stockouts.

Increased productivity and error reduction thanks to guided operations, traceability and paperless management.

The AlfaProject.net Operational Vision defines the expected payback already in the analysis phase. After go-live, LOG iN returns the same KPIs in real time, allowing to verify whether results match the forecasts.
